John Medeski
The Falcon in Marlboro has a wicked week lined up, featuring a jazz/rock stalwart, a genre-defying keyboard genius and a soul-dog whose jams just make a man want to strut.

John Medeski of Medeski, Martin and Wood will be tearing up the Falcon with his innovative style on Thursday, September 22. Medeski, Martin and Wood have been rocking steady for 20 years, intermittently taking breaks to keep things fresh. Medeski will hit the stage with his distinct musical bag of tricks at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Peter Prince & Moon Boot Lover will be rocking the Falcon on the 23rd. Prince’s style, described as “Rocket Soul,” is a funk/soul/rock fusion with an occasional note of late-era disc-jockey. His track “Stop, Drop and Burn” beats out some bumpy soul and melts into a track that you could totally hear Q-Tip rap over; another, “Saved Me from a Lonely Day,” is a classic mellowed-out funk romp. Both are available on the band’s site, peterprincemusic.com. Check it out. Doors open at 6 p.m., the opener goes on at 7 and Peter Prince takes us on his personal rocket to Planet Funk at 8.

Singer, composer and pianist Gabriel Kahane will be bringing his soulful voice and tangy piano style on the 24th. Kahane’s style is a fresh indie/classical ride. He’ll be backed up by Szelrosza, who specialize in European folk music ranging from gypsy jams to Klezmer. Doors open at 6 p.m.; Szelrosza comes on at 7 and Gabriel Kahane takes it home at 8.
